Ramadan Mubarak! We would like to welcome you back to our first screening of the year! This event will explore the worker struggle in the Sham (Levant) countries. From the aspiration of industrialisation to the strikes of tobacco workers, the radiant labour history of the Sham has been abandoned to time. Let us uncover this history, learn from it and revitalise our struggle!

Join us on Saturday the 22nd of March from 5:30-9:30pm at our beloved Listen Gallery. Alongside our guest speaker, Dr. Kay Dickinson, we will give a presentation on how Lebanese workers organised politically, the National Film Organisation in Syria and the revolutionary use of archives. Following that, we will watch the short film of the night, have Iftar at 6.41pm, and finish the evening with a feature film and discussion.

Sign up to get your free ticket and if possible, please donate to the venue!

CONTENT NOTES: The short film includes a brief clip of an animal skull. The feature covers themes of colonialism, Zionist occupation and war. Conversations deal with repression against strikes and protests. There are mentions of death due to cop aggression. Archival footage briefly depicts cop aggression and the sound of gunshots.
