A gun in one hand; a camera in the other. This slogan exemplifies resistance cinema - films made in the crucible of struggle, a weapon in the toolkit of liberation. In Palestine, the film workers of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Palestine Liberation Organisation exemplify the power of collective work, deep commitment to revolution and love for the people! We hope to shine a light on these (purposefully) hidden films so we can learn, continue and develop their revolutionary work in the arts. 🇵🇸

On Tuesday the 11th of June at 7pm, we will host a special screening in collaboration with @falastinfilmfest on Palestinian Resistance Cinema, with a focus on the Palestine Film Unit and the importance of archiving as a part of liberation. The screening will be held in Govanhill at @offline_glasgow.

As always, we will give a presentation providing historical and political context to the short and feature film, followed by a meal and space for group discussion after the screening. This screening is free and unticked; we encourage you to use the QR code on the door to donate to the venue. The venue is accessible via double doors on 138 Niddrie Road (G41 2AB) with no steps and a very low threshold bar easily crossed in a wheelchair.

⚠️ Please be aware that the short film includes mentions of malnutrition and death. It depicts gunfire and brief picture of severe bodily harm of a child. The feature depicts blood, gunfire, bombardment, corpses, and severe bodily injury on children and adults including amputated limbs and burned faces. These clips are short. Due to the nature of the topics covered, we encourage you to stay after the screening and use the space provided to share your thoughts and feelings on the films.
