07-11-2024 - Egypt: Voice of the Arabs
Egypt is the former bastion of the Pan-Arab dream. Nasser’s Egypt saw the country regain the Suez Canal, build the Aswan Dam, and become a cultural force in the region. Their successes and failures have been rich lessons in our ongoing national liberation struggle. Let us learn and carry on their torch. 🇪🇬
Join us on Thursday, the 7th of November, between 6-9pm at the @listengallery where we will run a presentation on how Egypt stood up as an Arab anti-imperialist power. We will be skipping the short and jump straight into the feature to allow enough time for a meal and group discussion at the end. Sign up on Eventbrite (link in bio) to book your free space and (if in your means) donate to the wonderful @listengallery.
⚠️ Please be aware that the film deals with the injustice of colonialism. It includes depictions of blood and wounds, physical violence, police assault, torture, and dead bodies. We encourage you to stay after the screening and use the space provided to process and reflect together.
